About Kate
Writing has always come easily to me. I loved it in grade school, needed it in high school, and majored in it in college. With a double-major from Indiana University in English and Journalism and a Masters in Education from Vanderbilt, I thought that the best way to serve this love of language arts was to *try* to pass it along to teenagers. I spent almost a decade in the high school English classroom helping high school students become better writers through understanding the writing process and gaining confidence while doing so. I am rounding out another decade as a secondary school administrator and have honed my hiring and resume-reading skills to be able to identify the strongest candidates on paper. Through my experiences, there’s one constant that remains: everyone is capable of both good and bad writing; the difference in outcome is the belief in one’s own voice and the ability to ask for help.
